INDEPENDENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVISOR - temporary/secondment opportunity for up to one year to cover maternity. Ref no: 799-1163

As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor you will be working for the Early Intervention Project that is part of Portsmouth City Councils Community Safety Service. You will support females and males over 13 who are experiencing domestic abuse and sexual violence within the Portsmouth area. You will work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and wider local partnerships to identify and assess victims of domestic abuse to provide a proactive, short to medium term crises intervention service to reduce risk. You will offer emotional support and information about options to empower and enable clients to live their lives free from abuse.

As well as being able to remain calm in a crisis you will hold IDVA accreditation, demonstrable equivalent experience, or a vocational qualification, or be willing to undertake relevant study is essential. An understanding of why people choose to stay in abusive relationships is essential.
